We got up bright and early to catch a 7 am flight to Lima, and then a connecting flight to Cuzco. Flying over the Andes in Peru late this morning was amazing! You’re never too far from the ground because you’re already so high up as it is, so the views were spectacular.
Can we just say that traveling on airlines that are not based in the US is a much more pleasant experience? We got a full breakfast on our 2 hour flight from Quito to Lima, and an actual snack on our just over 1 hr flight between Lima and Cuzco.

Trivia facts about Peru provided on the wrapper of our snack, a croissant with cream cheese, which also came with a pound cake mini muffin.
And then after a bumpy descent down into the middle of the cordillera, and a bit of ice being shed from the plane (into our laps), we made a few steep banks and got our first view of Quito.
After a bit of bargaining with the taxi driver, we’re now ensconced in our room at our home for the next week, Ecopackers Hostel. It’s pouring rain outside and we are enjoying watching the football game between England and Italy on DirecTV in our room! Unheard of in most hostels! Guess we’re not roughing it too much this week.
Coming up this week we’ll do a bunch of day trips in and around Cuzco, and then we begin the Inca Trail on Saturday, June 30th. Hope you all have a great week!
I got up bright and early to be on a 6:10 am flight to Miami for a SpaBoom trade show. Your trip sounds a WHOLE lot more fun!
Shannon, you should come down with a case of the Peruvian Flu and fly down here instead. It would be easy to catch a flight from Miami.
I am watching the game at home with my husband in Chicago thinking of you and Kyle enjoying it there in Peru. Safe travels!
Thought of you two as I watched a bit of the game in Telluride while on my mountain adventure. The Buck Salloon was full up, with soccer fans and reAlly loud hillbilly music. Beattie was allowed inside to watch too. Then off to the San Miguel for a swim. Enjoy your fancy new digs!
