Today was one of those days where we just didn’t feel like doing anything or spending a lot of time in the car. We drove over to Nelson in the morning to see what was playing at the movie theater…nothing we really wanted to see and the new James Bond movie opens here later this week so we decided to bag that. Ended up doing a bit of grocery shopping, wandering for a while and then headed over to Kaiteriteri. Cooked up a bit of lunch, drank some beers at the local pub, and wandered on the beach (which they were busy grooming in anticipation for the holidays and the huge rush of people). It was a nice chill afternoon.
Kaiteriteri is just south of Abel Tasman National Park and is a staging area for us. Tomorrow we’ll take a sea taxi into the park. They’ll drop us off in one of the bays where we will meet up with the coastal walkway. From there we’ll hike south 12 km, and several bays, and they’ll pick us up 4 hours later in another bay. Weather looks like it will be great and we’re looking forward to a fun day.
