This morning we woke up early because we were both so excited to go to Hobbiton that we couldn’t sleep. We showered and packed up the campervan and hurried into Matamata to look up directions to Hobbiton (we slept out in the boonies where there was no cell service, and therefore no broadband). We grabbed some muffins and coffee at the local espresso spot and hightailed it out of town.
We spent the entire morning at Hobbiton and then headed south to Rotorua. There is loads to do around here, from geothermal lakes and pools to Maori cultural activities, so we’ll spend at least a few nights here.
Longer post on Hobbiton coming tomorrow, when the wifi is better. We can’t wait to share our experiences with you. We had the best time and got loads of photos. And Hi to Kathy & Pete, who were loads of fun and also took all the photos of the two of us. Pleasure to meet the two of you. Hope you enjoy the Coromandel.
How exciting!
Will says, “That’s cool! I’d imagine Hobbiton is a nice place. Did you see any hobbits?”
Will, we didn’t get to see any hobbits while we were there. But we did get to eat second breakfast, which was yummy and very large. Those hobbits like to eat.
