Here are the Photos of the Day from this past week. We revisited the Australian Outback, several locations in the Andes, one of our favorite beaches in NZ, the misty waters of Vietnam, Moorish architecture, and a little Cambodian friend. You can visit our Photo of the Day Gallery here.

11 May, 2014 ~ We left Coober Pedy before dawn and drove through the darkness of the Australian Outback to the top of a ridgeline. We sat on a blanket in the morning coolness and silently waited for the sun to rise over The Breakers, nothing but the silhouette of the tree to let us know where we were until the sun slowly began to creep across the landscape.

12 May, 2014 ~ From Quito, you can take the TeleferiQo most of the way up Pinchincha Volcano and then hike the rest of the way to the top. We passed this little mountaintop chapel along the way, the colors striking against the landscape of other famous volcanoes in the area, such as Cotopaxi, which is hiding in the clouds out in the distance. It was a beautiful afternoon.

13 May, 2014 – Found this little guy hanging out in one of the windows of Banteay Samre on a hot afternoon. He was kind enough to hang out for a bit while I shot a few photos. Thanks, little guy!

With Lion Mountain in the background, seagulls jockey for position on Piha Beach. One of the famous black beaches of New Zealand, Piha’s sand has a very high iron content, making it appear very dark. It was cold and windy when we were here, but the surfers were still out and the views were spectacular.
