    Peace on Earth

    December 19, 2011 by Kat & Kyle 2 Comments

Hello all you fabulous holiday card people!

So glad you could drop by to see what we’re up to!

If you’re looking for hints for the crossword puzzle, those will be posted on Friday, Dec 23rd, in order to give the postman enough time to deliver everyone’s cards.

If you’re looking for more information on what we’re up to with this crazy travel idea, you’ve come to the right place.

The big news is that we’ve decided to take at least a year off and travel the world. We leave in May. First stop:  South America.

We have always known that one day we would travel long term. It’s something that has always been a part of our relationship and our life and many of our most memorable times together have involved travel. For many years we’ve talked about taking a year or 2 off and traveling the world. We’ve planned, saved, dreamed, and laughed about this possibility. It just wasn’t supposed to happen for another ten years or so. But several things have happened in the past couple of years that made us realize life is short and it’s not worth it to put off your dreams. Long term travel has always been our dream and we’re not putting it off any longer.

So, we’re quitting our jobs & leaving our life here to take an extended leave of absence and see where the universe takes us.

By the end of April we’ll have sold the bulk of our stuff and moved out of our house. We’ll be staying with Kat’s parents until we leave the third week of May.

We’ll spend the summer in South America and then will be back in Albuquerque in September for a wedding (Hi D & T!). Then it’s off to China and we’ll work our way westward and southward from there. Once we leave for China we don’t expect to be back in the states for a year.

While we have a rough idea of where we want to go, our goal is to NOT PLAN this trip. We’re just going to travel slowly, savor life, take our time, and see what happens…then plan on the fly.

We’ve set up this website so that you can follow along as we set out on this adventure. This site is a work in progress and we’re adding new things all the time, so check back often. We’ll be documenting it all, from trip prep, to the ups and downs of traveling long term, & all our adventures & misadventures. We can’t wait to share it all with you.

Got any questions? Post them in the comments (link is at top left of this post) or email them to us at info@whereverwithyou.com. We’ll put together an FAQ of them & post it on the site.

We’d also love to hear what sort of destination suggestions or travel dreams you have. And we invite you to come meet up with us somewhere along the way.

We wish you a very happy holiday season and a fun 2012!

We’re so excited for you both. We’ll be in Italy roughly between mid to the end of July, so guess our paths won’t cross. At least, this time. Good for you two.
