    Living La Vida Local – It’s Not a Comeback, It’s a Throwback

It’s a new year and time for a whole lot of new adventures. And we have so many exciting things in store for 2015. But, for the moment (and for the next several months worth of moments) we’ve returned to our roots, back to the scene of the original crime. For the next several months, we’re back in our old home town. We had stateside business and wanted to spend some quality time with family and friends. So we decided to combine both and are back in the closest place we have to a home even though we no longer live here ~ Albuquerque, New Mexico.

It’s weird to be back in this alternate universe where we used to live another life. In some ways this place feels so foreign to us now. A flashback to a former life that we once used to lead. But in other ways it is still familiar. It’s funny how easily the old things, habits, places, and people all still fit like your favorite pair of jeans. It’s also funny how quickly you can forget things, like how to get to your old favorite restaurant, or your best friends’ homes, or which lane I need to be in to not get merged off the freeway – again (seriously, you would think we never drove around in this town before).

So here we are back in the saddle again, living this temporary adventure of navigating our old lives. Staying with Kat’s parents. Sleeping in our old bed (which Kyle built). Hanging with old friends in familiar places. Back full time in our old jobs from long ago. Now, instead of juggling travel schedules, language barriers, and trying to find good wifi in a jungle, we’re dealing with old-new challenges such as commutes, offices, schedules, packed lunches, and spending 8 hrs away from each other 5 days a week. It’s weird and challenging and fun and frustrating.

Some things here have changed and other things have stayed the same, but you could say the exact same thing about us so somehow it all seems to work. New Mexico is beautiful and full of people we love who love us back and, if we have to be back stateside for a bit, there is no better place to be. Time for a few NM homestyle old school adventures. It’s not a comeback. It’s a throwback…to basics…to family…to friends…to our past…to memories…to dreams and hope and love. We’ll stay here for a bit and then toss ourselves back out into the winds and see where we land next. Wanna come along?
