We’re down to mere days until we leave for Ecuador and the past several weeks have been chock full! We’ve spent every waking moment running around finalizing things, and pulling together everything we need for the trip. And when we aren’t doing those things, we’re spending as much time as we can with all the people we love.
We are now officially homeless. We turned in our house keys on Thursday evening. And we’re down to one car, as the Canyonero has been sold to a great friend of ours, who will have many fantastic adventures in it. We’ve completely downsized from a 1300 sq ft house to about 140 sq ft…everything we now own is in the guest bedroom at my parents’ house.
Our good friends, Susan & Gwyneth, threw us an amazing going away party at the lovely Cafe Bella, which is owned by another good friend, Michael. It was a wonderful night with friends and family…so great to have so many of our favorite people all in one room together. We celebrated with our favorite cake, Mexican cokes, and PENGUINS!…more to come on the penguins once we hit the road.
We’ve been reflecting on how blessed we are to have the life that we do here in Albuquerque, with such a fantastic supporting cast of characters. And even though our leaving is a good thing and will bring many new adventures, it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to this part of our life. We’ve had it so incredibly good here, surrounded by family and friends. And saying goodbye to them is way harder than I ever thought it would be. I know it’s not truly goodbye. We’ll always be a huge family, keep in touch, participate and meddle in each other’s lives, and see each other many many more times over the years. But to make that final break…to say farewell for now to all you wonderful people who we love so much and who shower us with joy and love and support on a daily basis…it’s the hardest part about this whole endeavor.
So, once again, we are inviting all of you to pick a place and come meet up with us somewhere in the world.
Kathy and Kyle! How excited, impressed, amazed, and, can I say, “proud” I am of you two! Even though it’s been years since I’ve seen you-I feel sad that you’re leaving! haha…But you know what, thats what makes friendships so wonderful! All of us are here for you, supporting you and wishing the best for your endeavor. You two are a dynamic individuals that make up an even more fantastic couple. Good for you for following your dreams and for giving others a glimpse to a vision followed. In the words I say to Laura-“Drive recklessless”. Blessings to follow you and the people you meet, we will see you when the door opens. Most of all. Treasure every moment and HAVE FUN! : ) Hugs to you both, Krystal and “The Boys”. : )
Thanks, Krystal! We feel the same about you and all your boys, both big and small. 🙂 We’ll see you sometime soon, somewhere in the world.
Safe travels and many grand adventures! 🙂
