It’s our 7 monthiversary here in Oaxaca – and ten days until we shut up our apartment for the summer and head north to Albuquerque. Lots of things going on this week, and we only managed to capture some of it. But here’s a little taste of what we’ve been up to this week, when we haven’t been shopping for last minute gifts or packing up stuff in the apartment.

{Chocolate de Agua con Chile de Pasilla from Texier – a French chocolatier who has been making artisanal chocolate here in Oaxaca for more than twenty years. His shop/cafe is just around the corner from our place. Perfect way to start the day.}

{We’ve finally started hanging art in our house – after delaying for a while so we could paint. But now it is too hot to paint until later in the year. So the art is now going up on the caucasian-toned walls & we’ll just take them down later this fall when we’re ready to paint. These are by a local artist, Gagachtli, who paints these brightly colored images on feathers.}

{The national teachers’ strike started here in Oaxaca on Sunday. This is the view coming into the Zocalo. The entire main square, and several blocks of streets going off in several directions, are covered in tents as they settle in for this annual & indefinite strike.}

{We went to the feria in San Miguel del Valle over the weekend. So many talented artisans there, especially weavers. We took these three beautiful tapetes home with us.}
We’ll see you on Monday, when we will be celebrating 4 yrs of travel with photos and memories from the past four years, what’s next for us, and maybe even a prize or two.
Have a great weekend!
