{The Chimneys on Ghost Ranch in Northern NM.}
We’ve been busy with all sorts of things lately, as the time ticks down, and we get ready to head south.
But back in January, we booked tickets to come up to Abiquiu, a small town in Northern NM, to visit Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio – which is only open to the public in the summer. So we planned a weekend up here, and this past weekend we shirked all our responsibilities, and ran away to Northern NM. I remember coming up here when I was a little girl, but Kyle had never been to this part of NM, so it was a fun adventure.
We toured Georgia’s home and studio, stayed at the lovely Abiquiu Inn, and spent a day out at Ghost Ranch (about 20 minutes up the road), where Georgia had her summer cabin and spent a lot of time painting. Her paintings are actually recognizable in the landscape there. It was a relaxing weekend, in a beautiful place, with a lot of personal significance on many levels. Exactly what we needed.
We’ve been so busy this week that I haven’t even touched our big cameras, so these are all cell phone pics. A more extensive post on our time in O’Keeffe country is definitely in order. But for now, how about 6 memories from the weekend?

{Georgia’s last sculpture. The third piece wasn’t finished when she passed away, and a rock holds its place.}

{Our 19 yr old 4 Runner, which we inherited from Kyle’s sister, and recently named, Heddy Cool (after their grandmother). This was our first road trip with her. We have a car again! What? What?}
