{The sun sets over La Basílica de la Soledad as a young girl waits for her Quinceañera ceremony to start.}
It’s December, and we’re back into the swing of things – after a short break to recover from Day of the Dead. We had a restful and quiet November, and a delightful Thanksgiving with a good friend. And now it’s December! And the fiesta season is gearing back up here in Oaxaca. Hoping your November was a good one and that you have a great December coming up.

{Trunk Tacos got a brand new car this week! Does that mean we now eat Hatchback Tacos?}

{Oaxaca’s famous dog trainer, training his small dog pack on the Andador just outside the building where we have Spanish classes. Love all the little Xolo’s – the Mexican Hairless. The dogs ADORE him!}

{Tiny little tile art hidden on the corner of one of the local churches here in town.}

{December 1 marked the beginning of a new gubernatorial term here in Oaxaca – and sentiments are mixed, both about the new governor and the former one. This is the head of the former governor (Gabino Cué) on the body of a rat. He and his cronies are accused of pocketing a LOT of cash during his term. This was on display for a brief period outside Santo Domingo church yesterday morning. They took it down 5 minutes after we took this photo.}
I’ve been working on editing and curating photos from Day of the Dead, so keep an eye out for that post next week. And also stories about Las Posadas and the Night of the Radish (a famous radish carving festival here in Oaxaca). December is always quite lively here.
Have a great week!
