    The rains are on hiatus again as we are just starting to ramp up into the rainy season in mid May. So this week was a hot one, with highs in the mid 90s and cooler high desert nights. It was a big week, full of market days in some of the more famous villages out in the valley, good times with good friends, and our ten year wedding anniversary. One month from today, we’ll head back to the USA for the summer, basing ourselves with our family in New Mexico, but traveling back and forth between ABQ and Oaxaca – with a few quick trips to other US locations to be named later. Then we’ll return to our home in Oaxaca in the fall. So many things to do and experience before we go. Looking forward to soaking up the next month here with good friends before we all go our separate ways for a bit.

    {Our Tenth Wedding Anniversary was on Wednesday. Celebrated with fancy dinner out. The pulpo was grilled to perfection and served on a wild mushroom risotto. Oaxaca's not all tacos.}

    {Can't live in Oaxaca without a mezcal collection. Ours is ever changing as we buy and then drink.}

    {Can’t live in Oaxaca without a mezcal collection. Ours is ever changing as we buy new ones and then drink them. This is mostly Tobalá (our favorite type of mezcal), but there is also some Pechuga, Ruda, and even a Maracuya.}

    {Homemade Micheladas for our anniversary.}

    {Pajaros sin Paraiso (Birds without Paradise) is the latest public art installation here in Oaxaca. Conceived by the artist Manuel Molina and created in partnership with the city of Oaxaca and more than 300 people, who helped create these birds out of madera & totomoxtle (wood and corn husks) at public libraries throughout the city and its surrounding areas. So beautiful to catch them soaring over Alcalá, the pedestrian street here, in the morning light.}
