It’s Semana Santa and the celebrations here in Oaxaca are big. It’s been a challenging week with lots of traffic and people, and not as much street food as our normal vendors took off the week to celebrate with their families. But there has been fun and festivities at every turn this week. I also took a quick afternoon trip out into the Oaxaca valley – up to a town in the mountains, actually.

{Clever sign at one of my local cafés. “Scientists have discovered a novel way to chat live and in 3D. Have a coffee with someone.”}

{Maria and her lovely daughters in San Miguel del Valle. Maria runs a tienda and she’s growing her business with the help of En Via – a local nonprofit I volunteer with.}

{Some purchases from my trip to San Miguel del Valle this week. Fresh chiles, beautiful weavings, and freshly made chocolate}
