{Celebrations in one of our local panteones}
It’s my favorite time of the year here in Oaxaca – Día de Muertos! There is something incredibly special about this holiday – the celebration of loved ones who are gone, but who come back one night a year, and are thrown quite the family fiesta, with candles and flowers, beautiful decorations, music, dancing, drinking, food, and all the stories and laughter.
This year, we missed most of the festivities because there was an even more important celebration going on up north. This past Saturday, one of my favorite people, and someone I’ve known for decades, got married to the most perfect partner for him. And we were lucky enough to be included in the beautiful festivities on a farm in Virginia. Congratulations and so much love to Brad and Eva. We had the best time!

After that, we stuck around in VA to hang with some other good friends and even do a bit of trick or treating with our nephew and niece.

Then it was a marathon travel day to sleep in our own bed – and then dive back into Day of the Dead fiestas. The celebrations here last for more than a few days, so we managed to visit a few of the cemeteries and enjoy many of the celebrations around town this week. We even got to meet up with some new friends and play tour guide for an afternoon.

Feeling so grateful this week for dear friends with kind and generous hearts, true love, laughter, family, and our funny little life here in Oaxaca.
